Madhya Pradesh register consecutive wins

The second day of the 2nd edition of the Indus Ind Nagesh Trophy 2019-20 started early with Madhya Pradesh taking on Bihar. Madhya Pradesh won the toss and put Bihar in who put up an excellent batting display. They scored at will, with the opener Suehanshu Kumar scoring bulk of the runs. He was run-out for 62, but late heroics by Sahid Aman took them to 177. Madhya Pradesh indiscipline with the ball cost them as they gave away 44 extras.

Madhya Pradesh started the chase cautiously but lost Rampal early. Shubham Patel and the skipper Sonu steadied the innings with a solid partnership, but it was Ajay's onslaught which left Bihar speechless. He paced his innings superbly in the tight chase and never allowed the pressure to get to him. He made sure he stayed unbeaten till the end as Madhya Pradesh romped home with 3 balls to spare. Bihar's inexperienced captaincy let them down else Madhya Pradesh would have bitten the dust.

The second match of the day also featured Madhya Pradesh, who we're playing against the hosts Tripura. After having chased successfully in the first match, Madhya Pradesh this time around batted first after winning the toss. Their decision to bat first backfired as they lost two quick wickets inside 5 overs, but Nitesh and Rampal stitched a solid stand to revive them. Once they got their eye in, they toyed with the hapless Tripura and scored at will. They ended up with 219/3, putting instant pressure on the in-experienced hosts, Tripura. Rampal stayed unbeaten on 80.

Tripura started the chase on a bad note, losing wickets at regular intervals. Only Susanta and Rajendra showed some fight, but otherwise, it was just a one-sided affair, which helped Madhya Pradesh to a consecutive win. They have now won their both league matches in this leg of Agartala. Gokul Pardhi was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 8 runs.
