Hosts Uttar Pradesh kick-start their campaign with a comfortable win

Uttar Pradesh won their first match in the second season of the IndusInd Bank Nagesh trophy by a comfortable margin of 9 wickets. Earlier in the day, Shri Upendra Tiwari, Minster of Sports, Govt of Uttar Pradesh, invited the four captains from Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha and Goa along with Mrs. Garima Choudhary, President of  Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association for the Blind (UPCAB) and John David, General Secretary , Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) to their residence and inaugurated the matches by tossing the coin for the opening game between UP and Goa.

Uttar Pradesh won the toss and opted to bowl on what looked like a very good wicket to bat. Goa started their innings steadily with opener Rahul Damor scoring an unbeaten 62 and he was ably supported by Ashutosh who scored 46. Goa could never get their innings off third gear and even though they had 8 wickets in hand they could only put up a below par 143 runs from their 20 overs.

Chasing a relatively easy target, Uttar Pradesh got off to a quick start with opener Ajeet Babu notching up a quick fire unbeaten 70. Mohammad played the anchor role and scored 39 as the hosts ran out comfortable winners by 9 wickets. With this win UP have opened their account with 3 points in group A.
