Defending Champions Odisha off the mark in style

Defending champions Odisha have comeback strongly after suffering a defeat at the hands of Karnataka. In the game played at the Northern Railway ground, Lucknow, Odisha had won the toss and opted to bat first against Uttar Pradesh. The openers justified the captain’s decision and stitched together a century stand for the opening wicket. In a game reduced to 15 overs, Sukhram Majhi did the bulk of the scoring as he ended up with an unbeaten 74 of just 49 deliveries. Nakul gave him able support with a fine knock of 45.

Chasing a target of just under 10 runs per over, the hosts never really got going as the score board pressure got to them. They kept losing regular wickets as the required rate crept up and gave the defending champions their first win by 40 runs.

Due to the delay in the proceeding yesterday due to uncontrollable circumstances, Odisha had to play their second game of the day as they took on Goa. And again the Odisha captain decided to bat first and bat they did!!! The openers went hammer and tongs from the very first and belted the Goa bowlers to every boundary on the ground. Sukhram Majhi remained unbeaten again but this time only after notching up a magnificent century. Nakul too bettered his performance from the earlier game and ended up with a well composed 85 as Odisha ended their innings on 238 for the loss of just two wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a massive target Goa crumbled from the start and kept losing wickets. Captain Jafar Iqbal was the star for Odisha with the ball and took four wickets as Goa could post only a paltry 115 in their 20 overs. With this win the defending champions are right back on track to making the knockouts after having two wins out of three games.
