Uttarakhand register comfortable win while Madhya Pradesh edge closer to knockouts

Uttarakhand beat Himachal by 55 runs to register their first win in the Bhopal leg of the IndusInd Bank Nagesh trophy season 2019-20. Uttarakhand won the toss which was done by Shri Surjeet Singh Chauhan, Chairman, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and elected to bat first and with the help of opener Deepak Rawat’s unbeaten 87 posted a mammoth total of 197/5 in their 20 overs.

 

Chasing the huge target Himachal were always behind the required run rate as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, the fell short of the target by 55 runs as they could muster up only 142 runs losing eight wickets in their 20 overs.

In the second game of the day, hosts Madhya Pradesh beat Gujarat by five wickets to win their fourth consecutive game and have almost booked their place in the knockouts. Gujarat who opted to bat under the beaming sun were blown away by the impressive bowling and fielding performance from the hosts as they were skittled out for only 112 in the 15th over.

 

Chasing a relatively small target, Madhya Pradesh struggled in the beginning when the Gujarat bowlers stuck timely blows to keep the run chase under check. But once again it was time for last match’s Rampal to take his side home and he did so by scoring an unbeaten half century. Madhya Pradesh will now take on Uttarakhand in their last league game tomorrow and can seal their place in the quarterfinals with a win. The presentation ceremony was attended by Rashtriya Mahamantri, Akhil  Bhartiya Gujarati Samaj, Shri Sanjay Bhai Patel, ASP Shraddha Joshi, Shri Parvesh Vijayvargiya and Shri Raghvendra Sharma.
