All-round Maharashtra storm into Semis

The Last Quarter-final of the IndusInd Nagesh Trophy 2019-20 was held at Mittal International school cricket ground, Kota, Rajasthan. The knock-out match was played between the hosts Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The hosts won the toss and put Maharashtra in. The openers started cautiously but lost Anil in the 4th over. Shivaji Munde, the top scorer of the Maharashtra innings with 34, stood tall at one end, but he didn't get the required support at the other as Maharashtra kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Amol's late onslaught towards the end helped them post a decent total of 144. The Rajasthan bowling was disciplined with Pradip picking up 3 wickets for 22 and Brijraj also chipped in with 2 wickets.

Chasing in a knock-out match always have its challenge and the hosts Rajasthan fell into that trap today. They had a 50-run opening stand at the top, but once the first wicket fell, they started losing wickets in a heap and the running between the wickets cost them the match in the end. Maharashtra was a live-wire in the field with the substitute Abhijeet effecting two direct hits and the Hosts Rajasthan succumbed under pressure to hand the match on the platter to Maharashtra.
Hanuman top scored with 22, but none of the other batsmen could stand up when it really mattered. Maharashtra had certainly come into this knock-out match with a game plan and that showed in their bowling today as they rarely bowled loose balls and they were well complimented in the field by their fielders, who pounced on everything which was on offer today.

Maharashtra now lock horns with the title favourites Karnataka in a pulsating Semi-final at the SSE grounds, Bengaluru on 20th January.

Brief scores:
Maharashtra: 144 all-out, Dilip Munde 34, Amol Karche 24, Pradip 3/22, Brijraj 2/23.

Rajasthan: 100 all-out, Hanuman 22, Ashok Regar 17, Dilip Munde 3/18, Amol Karche 2/19.
