About 3rd T20 World Cup Cricket For The Blind 2022

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has the Indian legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh as the brand ambassador for the 3rd T20 World Cup for the Blind to be held in India.  Says Yuvraj Singh “I am thrilled to be a part of the 3rd T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind as the Brand Ambassador. I commend and appreciate the spirit of visually Impaired Cricketers for their passion for Cricket and determination to fight everyday challenges. It is a different world, but it is a world of Cricket. Cricket has no boundaries. And I believe this game taught me How to Fight, how to Fall, how to Dust Myself off to get up again and Move Forward. So I urge and invite everyone to support this great initiative,” 

On having Yuvraj Singh as the brand ambassador on board for the ‘3rd T- 20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind, Dr Mahantesh G. Cricket association for the Blind in India (CABI), the cricketing arm of Samarthanam, registered to govern cricket tournaments in India, is the apex body organizing cricket for the blind and is affiliated to World Blind Cricket Ltd (WBC). CABI has the hosting rights to organize T-20 World Cup for the Blind.

Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) in association with Samarthanam is organizing the 3rd T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament for the Blind from December 5th to December 17th 2022. The participating nations for World Cup 2022 are Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and the host, India. 200 Players will be participating from all the countries and tournaments are in 8 Cities PAN India.  The inauguration of World Cup in Delhi on December 5th 2022 in Delhi at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium, Gurugram.  A grand opening ceremony will be held with a ceremonial march past by all the participating teams, followed by cultural events, celebrity appearances and dance performances by well-known artists.

The opening match will be played between defending champions India and Nepal on 6th December 2022 in Faridabad.

The India squad list has I. Ajay Kumar Reddy B2 (Andhra Pradesh) leading the team as a CAPTAIN and Venkateswara Rao Dunna – B2 (Andhra Pradesh) the Vice-Captain. The World Cup matches commence from 6th December to 17th December 2022. CABI’s committee has selected the top final 17 Indian Squad for the 3rd T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind. The World Cup will consist of a total of 24 matches to be played in several cities in India.

“Winning the World Cup in 2012 & 2017 was very special to us because it meant so much to so many.  Our players who have been selected, have gone through rigorous schedules, discipline, hard work and I am sure the best 17 with the spirit of sportsmanship are geared up to win the World cup for the 3rd time” says Mr E John David who is the chairman of CABI Selection Committee and the General Secretary of Cricket Association for the Blind in India.

Blind Cricket, is one of the biggest Sporting Event of CABI, The motive behind organizing Cricket for the Blind is to provide the players with a platform to showcase talent. It aids in enhancing the players’ self-confidence, encourage sportsmanship and focus on skills rather disabilities. The initiative also sensitizes public by inducing a social responsibility to respect people with disabilities, understand their needs and eventually help them merge with mainstream.
